I have three lovely daughters who are dog mad, the eldest has been nagging us for years for a dog but its never been the right time!
But since October, we have been living in a new place, a farm house to be exact and the question has popped up again!
Now I know its nearly Christmas, and I’m not one of those ‘we could get a dog for Christmas’ types. I think a dog takes a little more consideration than ‘wouldn’t it be a nice gift to the children!’.

I think it’s a great idea to have a trial run, and I appreciate how seriously you are taking the decision. I work for a very large animal shelter and it breaks my heart how people think of animals as “presents”. Cause what happens after a while. People return their “present” and tons end up in shelters. If you have never had a dog make sure you do your research and start out right from the beginning. It takes a lot of work at first, but it pays off in the end. Good luck!
