I don’t want a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need
I don’t care about the presents underneath the Christmas tree
I just want you for my own more than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is you
It’s YOU

I don’t want a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need
Don’t care about the presents underneath the Christmas tree
I don’t need to hang my stocking there upon the fireplace
Santa Claus won’t make me happy with a toy on Christmas day

I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is you
Yooou baby

I won’t ask for much this Christmas
I won’t even wish for snow
I’m just gonna keep on waiting underneath the mistletoe
I won’t make a list and sent it to the North Pole for Saint Nick
I won’t even stay awake to hear those magic reindeer’s click

Cause I just want you here tonight

Holding onto me so tight
What more can I do? ?
All I want for Christmas is you
Yooou baby

Oh! All the lights are shining so brightly everywhere (so brightly baby)
And the sound of children’s laughter fills the air
And everyone is singing
I hear those sleigh bells ringing
Santa won’t you bring me the one I really need
Won’t you please bring my baby to me? oooh

I don’t want a lot for Christmas
This is all I’m asking for
I just wanna see my baby standing right outside my door
I just want you for my own more than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
Baby all I want for Christmas is you
Yooou baby

All I want for Christmas is you baby
You’re all I want
You’re all I need
Christmas day baby you and me

You’re all I want
You’re all I need
Christmas Day baby you and me

MEXICO CITY – Mexico City has been certified by Guinness World Records as having the world’s largest Christmas tree standing 110.35 meters (362 feet) high, 35 meters (115 feet) in diameter and weighing 330 tons.

The new record exceeds by 24 centimeters (9.5 inches) the Christmas tree in Aracaju, Brazil, the city that had held the record since 2007 with a tree 110.11 meters (361.25 feet) high.

Carlos Martinez, the representative of Guinness World Records, on Saturday certified the new record at Glorieta de la Palma, located on the Paseo de la Reforma, where the huge tree stands and will continue to be displayed for 36 days.

“The possibility existed that this would not break the record, since the height (of the Brazilian tree) was exceeded by only 24 centimeters, but finally we corroborated it and remain satisfied that there is no problem that now Mexico has this new Guinness” record, Martinez told reporters.

The lighting of the gigantic tree was carried out at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, marking the beginning of the Christmas festivities in the Mexican capital, where some 19 million people live.

Mexico City Mayor Marcelo Ebrard headed the tree-lighting ceremony, during which the Shola Cantorum orchestra and the Mariachi Gama Mil band played Christmas music.

Work has been going on since Oct. 29 on the huge Christmas decoration project, labor that has required about 200 Mexican and Brazilian workers, project manager Julio Galman told Efe.

The year-end festivities are sponsored 80 percent by private donations and 20 percent by the government of the Federal District.

Lights Play a Central Role in the Blessed Celebration of Christmas

(Much of the content of this poem comes from experiences of my childhood in New Orleans. I originally wrote it for use in it in my personal Christmas card many years ago. I offer it now as my way of wishing you a Christmas filled with blessings and joy and the light of Christ’s love! )

The Lights of Christmas

Bonfires built on levees guide Papa Noel
That he may find his way along Big Muddy.
And in the glow of dancing flames the children laugh and play,
Their eyes alight and faces shining ruddy.

Department stores are all dressed up with windows draped and lit.
Their tableaux share the space with goods for sale.
And passing shoppers comment on the decorator’s art
Depicting scenes from some old classic tale.

A house festooned with tiny lights takes on a magic air.
It changes to enchantment with one “click.”
Trees and shrubs now shimmer with ten thousand twinkling points –
A dream awakened like a sorcerer’s trick.

Candles flicker on the sill and scatter darkness there.
They send a greeting through the night to all.
The promise made of welcome and fellowship to share
Is kept by those who dwell within the hall.

Christmas tree stands proudly clad in tinsel, balls and lights,
And seems to rest on presents stacked below.
This monolith of memories holds the generations close
With old and new both proudly hung to show.

The light of the first Christmas shone bright in midnight sky –
One star that gleamed much closer than the rest.
It led the way for shepherds and magi to the place
Where Jesus rested soft at Mary’s breast.

And there they found the true Light of Christmas then and now
As we may find it if we only seek Him.
The brightest Light t’will ever shine comes to our hearts from God
In His Own Son, there born in Bethlehem.

This year instead of “merry” or “Yuletide” in my wish
I’ll greet you with the greatest gift I know.
“God’s blessings on you on this day which celebrates His Son.
He travels with you everywhere you go.”

“He came that we might live in Light, escaping Darkness’ snare.
He knows our hurts and every pain we have.
His warmth and light bring healing, peace and life eternally.
Receive His Gift. He faithfully will save.”
