there’ll be two

two moons will manifest,
medallions in a purple sky,
so while one illuminates

a country lane, the other
guides a stray fisherman
back to familiar shores.

there’ll be two willows,
laughing in the breeze,
so while one protects

delicate baby finches,
the limbs of the other
become climbing ropes.

two flowers will rise,
burgeoning with colour,
so while one is plucked

to offer some comfort,
the other willingly
surrenders to bees.

there’ll be two rivers,
forging their own paths,
so while one might slow

down to broaden and
explore, the other gives
way to vital rapids.

(This year we became the godparents of the little delights above – Roman and Simon – and this is dedicated to them).

Walking the Dog Seems Like Fun To Me
By Roger Stevens

Dad said, The dog wants a walk.

Mum said to Dad, It’s your turn
Dad said, I always walk the dog.
Mum said, Well I walked her this morning
Dad said, She’s your dog –
I didn’t want a dog in the first place

Mum said, It’s your turn.

Dad stood up and threw the remote control
at the pot plant
Dad said, I’m going down the pub
Mum said, Take the dog

Dad shouted, No way!
Mum shouted, You’re going nowhere!

I grabbed Judy’s lead
and we both bolted out the back door

The stars were shining like diamonds
Judy sniffed at a hedgehog, rolled up in a ball
She ate a discarded kebab on the pavement
She chased a cat up a tree

Walking the dog
seems like fun to me

Happy Dog
By Flying Lemming

I’m a happy dog at the beach
If I had the power of speech
I would tell you all
To throw my ball
I’m a happy dog at the beach

I’m a happy dog at the beach
There are no new tricks you can teach
I’m bouncy and glad
And my tail wags like mad
I’m a happy dog at the beach

I’m a happy dog at the beach
My joy is always in reach
Whatever the talk
It’s the best place to walk
I’m a happy dog at the beach

I’m a happy dog at the beach
As I hear the seagulls screech
I chase and I bark
Long into the dark
I’m a happy dog at the beach

I’m a happy dog at the beach
And I don’t want to start to preach
But if you ask me
The best thing to see
Is a happy dog at the beach

dog and me

I only have a group of three,
me, my dog, my dog and me

It’s a lonely way to be,
me, my dog, my dog and me

We are a safe with no key,
me, my dog, my dog and me

Three to talk to two to see,
me, my dog, my dog, and me

Dogs are known to be the best friends you can ever have in the form of pets.  Take a look here at which are the best dogs for children.

When you have a child in the house, it’s always great to have a dog!  Of course when you are looking for the best dogs for children, some breeds will adapt very well around kids compared to others.  Having dogs when you have toddlers in the house gives your kids safety as well as bringing lots of fun and play to your household! Dogs usually love kids and treat them just like their own and are usually much more affectionate and caring towards them, than their owners.

Of course the whole point of having a family dog, is to give the family a sense of security, some fun and even a bit of exercise on daily walks, and in turn, owners give their dogs a loving home to stay in. Find out which are the best dogs for children below.

Best Dogs for Children and Families

dogs kids 3 Best Dogs for Children

There are a few characteristics which these types of dogs should have, to be around children. Having a dog when you have toddlers around is a fun thing, but you also have to take care of them in many ways. You have to make sure, the dog breeds are not violent, aggressive or rough around the children, as this of course can be harmful.

It is also better to ensure that the dog’s shedding habits around the kitchen and the kids, (since, kids need very hygienic conditions in the earlier years) are kept to the garden. Given below are a few names of the best dogs for kids, so have a look which one you might prefer the best and I do hope that it will help you choose the perfect dog for many years to come..  Also feel free to comment at the bottom….

Golden and Labrador Retriever:

dogs kids 1 Best Dogs for Children

Labrador Retrievers are very attractive and look very adorable. They are usually great with kids and have a pleasant personality around families.  They enjoy playing and love walks.  An ideal family dog and just one of the best dog breeds for children you could have…  As Labradors are very affectionate and also intelligent they can also be one of the best dogs for childrenwith autism too.   But that’s not all..  We also have….

Bichon Frise:

dogs kids 4 Best Dogs for Children

These little dogs could be mistook for cotton balls, as they are tiny and soft. Bichon Frises love to play and are very active around babies.  Another one to consider when looking for the best dogs for kids..

dogs kids 5 Best Dogs for Children

These dogs are just like Retrievers, only smaller in size and kinda cuter to look at.  Beagles are friendly and loving in nature and are very suitable for little children. They respond very well to training too.  This breed of dog will bring fun to any family with children.

Pembroke Welsh Corgi

dogs kids 6 Best Dogs for Children

This is definitely one of the most popular pets in families and holds his place in the best dogs for children. They are short tailed, stocky dogs who just love romping with kids of between 6 to 7 years.

This black and white spotted guy may look bigger than those tiny toddlers of yours, but are never a threat around them.  Dalmatians are pure lovers of human beings and can be the most trusted friends for their families. With all that energy inside them, they are one of the easiest dog breeds to have fun with!

Basset Hound

dogs kids 8 Best Dogs for Children

A Basset Hound is also a great pick for children. They are very gentle, a bit dopey and sweet by nature but could get stubborn at times. They love children of all ages and can’t help getting their attention. They are also one of the best dogs for children that don’t shed and so they are probably one of the best dogs for children with allergies.

German Shepherd

dogs kids 9 Best Dogs for Children

This is yet another breed we recommend in our list, a breed which is not only loyal but also extremely protective about children. If they are well trained, you don’t need to bother about leaving your kids alone with them anytime. They have a very playful nature especially around kids of a younger ages.

dogs kids 10 Best Dogs for Children

How could we not mention Collies? They are the most perfect dogs that a family could ask for. They are gentle, predictable and easy to train, along with being the most easiest around children. They are also very protective about the families and love to play with kids of absolutely all ages.

Mixed-Breed Dogs:

There are many other dogs which are mix breeds and also make the most adorable family dogs one could have.  They are gentle, mostly quiet, protective and loyal and having them in the family is always great and thus, they are also the best dogs for kids. You can blindly trust many of the mix-bread dogs around your children anytime, but make sure you train them first.

With those beautiful animals to have around the house, I am sure you must now have a good idea about choices for the best dogs for your children. You can always trust these dog breeds, as they will never give up on their families and they will soon become great buddies to you and your family for a long time!

The teachers jumped out of the windows.
The principal ran for the door.
The nurse and librarian bolted.
They’re not coming back anymore.

The counselor, hollering madly,
escaped out the door of the gym.
The coach and custodian shouted
and ran out the door after him.

The lunch ladies threw up their ladles,
then fled from the kitchen in haste,
while all of the students looked puzzled
as staff members scurried and raced.

We’d never seen anything like it.
But, still, it was pretty darned cool
to see all the staff so excited
to leave on the last day of school.

I got up late for school today,
And nearly missed the bus!
I hurried down the stairs,
Wolfed my toast, and caused a fuss!

I quickly threw books in my bag,
My pens, my lunch and shorts.
Grabbed my coat from out the cupboard,
Took my bat and ball for sports.

I slid across the kitchen floor,
And hopped around the cat!
Then expertly rolled over,
Jumped back up and grabbed my hat!

I belted out of our front door,
Spun round and swung it shut.
Saw the bus was waiting for me,
I felt I had time to strut!

I climbed aboard and then froze still,
And knew that things weren’t right!
My friends fell down in fits of fun,
And pointed with delight!

My face went red, I couldn’t breathe,
For in my haste I knew!
I’d forgotten to wear trousers,
Jumper, shirt, my socks and shoes!

A £60 fine if your child is late for school
Fines: Emerson Valley School Milton Keynes UK

Parents are being fined £60 each if their child turns up a few minutes late for lessons – and are being threatened with court if they fail to pay in time.

The strict measures have been introduced at one primary school where pupils are penalised if they miss registration ten times in a 12-week term.

Emerson Valley School, in Milton Keynes, says parents will get 21 days to pay their fines after which they double to £120 which has to be paid within 28 days.

It is the third school to adopt the system in the city where two penalty notices have been issued in the past year. The powers are available to any head teacher in the country but few are thought to have adopted them.

Chris McGovern, of the Campaign for Real Education, warned: ‘They could undermine relations between school and parents – the cornerstone of any school’s success.’

Emerson Valley, which is in special measures, said it hoped its stance would raise standards. The penalties are levied on each parent for each child who is late.

If parents refuse to pay, they could be punished in a magistrates’ court and incur more costs. But an Emerson Valley spokesman said: ‘The link between good attendance and pupils achieving well at school is clear.’

Milton Keynes Council said it had ‘a borough-wide policy in place’ although the decision on whether to use fines was left to each school. Most problems were resolved by issuing a warning letter, it added.

Netmums founder Siobhan Freegard said: ‘Children who are frequently late to school are often from chaotic family backgrounds. Taking money away from struggling parents could just make a bad situation worse.’
