This morning the kids wanted something different. I only had the usual stuff so I decided to just bake the pancakes in mini muffin tins and make them colorful. Super Easy!
The girls thought it was fun that I skewered them and it worked out well because the left overs went in the freezer and will be perfect on the go. Pop in microwave a few minutes and go.
***Tip: either spray tin with cooking spray or try spraying the paper cups. They did stick a bit. Also my chocolate chips sat right on top. I hoped to have them sink a bit. I floured them and I don’t think that’s needed.

Healthy snacks for kids

I don’t know about anyone else but I really struggled to give my kids healthy, vegan snack food that they’ll like and consider an acceptable alternative to most of the additive laden rubbish available from the shops. It never fails to surprise me how even the most healthy looking snacks are full of utter crap! I’m also amazed at how the creators of these products actually get them past food standards!
I let my children have snacks that may not be considered super healthy but they’re pretty decent and far more nutritious than anything you can buy. We also make them ourselves at home so I have complete control over what goes into them. There are some things available as snack food for children that are so unbelievably bad the contents resemble ingredients for a complex scientific experiment! They’re big boys now

They just grow so fast.

Hutchies abroad

Our gorgeous boys turned five today. It’s been a crazily busy weekend; parties, auskick, going to the footy yesterday along with the excitement every night counting down the sleeps until today. Turning five is fun.

I was lucky to have Friday with only one at home so got the cakes cooked, yesterday was for decorating and today was for the freshest of fairy bread. The prep has dragged out a bit but I think has meant less stress overall.

When I was growing up a big deal was made of birthday dinner. Mum would cook a delicious two course meal, anything we liked and we had a special red plate that the birthday person used. I built all this up with the boys and asked them what they wanted for their meal.

Jam sandwiches.

Oh and chocolate ice cream for W. I can’t complain that they’d given me extra work…
